Preservatives for cosmetics

Cosmetic preservatives are substances whose primary function is to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in cosmetic products. Consumer safety is the most important concern in the development of personal care products. It is essential that cosmetic products remain protected from microbial contamination during manufacturing, packaging, storage, transport, and finally, during consumer use.

We offer conventional preservative systems, alternatives to traditional systems, and biotechnological preservatives designed to provide broad-spectrum activity and be effective against bacteria, yeasts, molds, and fungi. The main goal of preservatives is to ensure product safety and, therefore, protect people.

Each product must undergo a microbial challenge test to ensure it is not susceptible to microbial growth under normal and foreseeable use conditions. Lemmel conducts microbiological evaluations (Challenge Tests) to confirm the efficacy of its preservatives in cosmetic formulations.
